About this desk · file WCC-13

Useful information needs visible standards.

The Workers' Comp Claim Desk is an independent editorial reference on California workers' compensation. It exists because the claim system is explained badly in most places that show up in a search: either by marketing pages that want a phone number, or by content that invents numbers to sound confident.

01

Grounded

Every procedural or statutory claim maps to a public source listed at the foot of the file — the Labor Code to leginfo.legislature.ca.gov, and guidance to the California Department of Industrial Relations, the DWC Medical Unit, or WCAB materials.

02

No invented proof

No invented numbers, averages, benefit calculations, or anecdotes. Where a figure matters, it comes from a cited public source — such as the one-working-day DWC-1 duty (§5401) or the 104-week TD limit DWC describes — or the file says the number is not published. This desk never calculates an individual's benefits or deadlines.

03

Independent by design

No advertising, referrals, paid placement, affiliate links, testimonials, or case stories. No outside contributor, sponsor, or client influences content. If that ever changes, this page will say so before anything else.

04

Corrected on the record

Errors are fixed on the record: the file is corrected, the correction is noted with its date, and the “last reviewed” field is updated. No silent edits.

Authorship

Files are written and reviewed by the desk's editorial team under the byline “Workers' Comp Claim Desk — Editorial.” No outside contributor, sponsor, or client influences content.
